When asked to design a logo for Marfa 100, a charitable cycling event, we didn’t think twice. Supporting this event, deepening our ties to our beloved Marfa, Texas, was a no-brainer.
Our client Todd Widell and Marfa Public Radio offered us a unique opportunity: carte blanche. In kind, we developed a program that gave maximum freedom for interpretation and experimentation.
The custom whirligig shape was designed with a generous color palette, resulting in multiple color combinations for use on t-shirts, advertising. And hooray! The inherent flexibility of the system we created allowed for a playful and economical solution for this non-profit event. i.e.: In addition to the client building their own website (economical), pairing the translucent quality of rubber stamping with ink pads in stock colors resulted in a unique interpretation of branded race numbers (playful AND economical!).
Can a logo mark create, anticipate AND set a tone? We’d like to think the resolution for what turned out to be a colorful weekend, commencing in the
El Cosmico Trans-Pecos Music Festival, accomplished just that.
