“Cult Hero”: “Rock star”: “Dear friend”: “Mamma to the masses”: these are but a few ways Carrie Contey has been described.
Carrie is not your typical parenting expert. In fact, she challenges the whole idea that someone outside a family could possibly BE an expert about how to parent within another’s unit. She knows her clients are the experts, and helps them to see that too. Her work offers a new perspective on children, parenting, family life and being a healthy, happy, whole human being.
Not surprisingly, working with Carrie has been an a-typical experience. The collaboration began last fall, creating the identity that would serve as the foundation to her budding lifestyle brand. Our work continues through online training offerings, website and even event design. And while that scenario is not unique in and of itself, our working relationship has illustrated the potential a strong, self-aware and happy client has in influencing good design. Lots of laughter (and hugs!) doesn’t mean a lack of seriousness. Changing directions 180 degrees isn’t a sign of weakness. Fantastical goals aren’t frivolous. It’s all grist for the mill. All information.
The space to grow as designers, with Carrie as a client, is as boundless as her wide open and courageous heart.
